So I've hooked up this lj to twittinesis.com/ to allow the twitter feed to roll on after LoudTwitter's untimely demise. We'll see how it goes, but I don't expect it to be nearly as netiquette friendly as LoudTwitter.
I'm pondering whether I could legitimately take an intensive course through Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams... It's a fabulous book, and one of the few serious treatments of dream-work to have ever graced modernity (we're poor in this department compared with our ancient ancestors). The approach to the course would have to be 'for those who have never read Freud before', which sells things a bit short to my mind. But hey, you've got to start somewhere.
Another thing to do might be to match The Interpretation of Dreams with one or more volumes from philosophy proper. Or to simply select a range of ideas that show the inmixing of dreaming with other domains, i.e. finitude, freedom, possibility, contingency, etc. I'd be tempted to run it along side the screening of some films that supply a suitable intellectual short-hand for the concepts in the course...
It's all food for thought for the time being. ~Niv
